Amazing Photo & Picture Gallery Walls

photo gallery wall
photo from abeautifulmess
Last week I talked to you about my kitchen reorganising, whilst I`m finishing that little project, there`s free time to get inspirations for some new ones. One of the things I always wanted in my home is a gallery wall decorated with photos or pictures, or possibly even both separately or mixed. Or maybe just a part of a wall? Images of a instagram photo wall may be popping up in my mind as well. OK, I suppose you got it, I`m still very indecisive. Whereas I`m deciding what I really want in my home, let me share a few picture & photo wall ideas.

Yellow Hokkaido & Romanesco Curry

yellow hokkaido & romanesco curry

Squash in spring, are you going nuts! That`s probably what you guys are thinking right now. Well let me explain, I`m one of these persons, who like to freeze things, especially those ingredients that aren`t easy to get throughout the whole year. Just like that, this little hokkaido survived autumn & winter season and got discovered in the freezer a few weeks ago. Now I just needed an inspiration on what to do with it, which turned out to be pretty easy, found a delicious recipe for a squash & romanesco curry in this recipe book.
After trying it,I loved it so much, just had to share it with you.

Ingredients (make about little bowls)
  • 1 onion
  • 500g frozen romanesco-vegetable-mix
  • 250g hokkaido
  • 180g single cream
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • olive oil
  • salt & pepper
yellow curry with hokkaido & romanesco

First prepare your vegetables, finely chop the onion and cut the squash into little sticks. Heat some olive oil in a pan, add onion and curry powder, mix well. As soon as the onions get translucent add the romanesco and let cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Pour in 1 1/2 to 2 dl water, add the hokkaido sticks and let simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
Season with salt & pepper, add single cream and just heat until your curry has the perfect temperature. Serve and enjoy!

Curry is just one of the yummiest things on the world, probably never get enough of it.
What about you? Curry obsessed or not?

Budapest Hotel is where I want to Stay

great movie: The Grand Budapest Hotel
photo from patheos

Sorry for posting with delay, but yesterday I didn`t manage to upload this, so it`s kind of movie Monday on a Tuesday, but I guess you could get over it right? At least I hope so!
Anyway let`s talk about movie stuff, that`s what movie Monday is all about.

Several weeks ago, I watched "The Grand Budapest Hotel", that`s also quiet the same time frame I`m dreaming about staying in a 30ies decorated hotel. Just like the one in the movie, which I can`t get enough off. My dream would only be outdone if the staff also would be 30ies inspired. Besides my little obsession with the set, decoration and costumes of this very movie, I have to say it`s also absolutely entertaining, with a good storyline and a touch of tragedy as well, although not in the most obvious way. Wes Anderson has done a great job, now I kind of want to see more of his films.

Aside from trying to convince you to watch "The Grand Budapest Hotel", I got a few other little updates...
Also watched "Into the Woods" and I have to say costumes, make-up and set are really great, but the movie, in terms of the storyline, didn`t convince me. Sadly no thumbs up for this one, sry...
Same goes to Season 5 final of Pretty Little Liars! So disappointed, mainly because it got kind of irrational in the end.
That´s about it for this weeks cinematic post, except you would like to recommend some movies???

Whilst fall and winter are made for dark and smokey colours, spring and summer are all about pop up colours, well and a lot of glow, especially in summer. So is there any better time to freshen up your cosmetic case, than right now, when nature is getting colorful again. Indeed nature can be a great inspiration, also for make-ups, don`t you agree? I for example love the colours of blooming spring flowers and trees and like to implement the range of colours on my make-ups.

That`s what inspired me to write this post, besides that I wanted to show you my favorite products and colour palette for spring.

Tips Needed for a DIY Book Shelf

book shelf with attached ladder
photo from abeautifulmess

Hello guys, I`m writing this post, because I need a little bit of help or some tips, especially from those ones of you who are experienced handymen. Maybe you`ve already seen my post here, if not let me tell you.
For quiet a while, actually for like two years, I am looking everywhere for a bookshelf that comes with a ladder attached. You know, one like in the Disney Movie "The Beauty and the Beast". I´ve also seen it multiple times on Pinterest and on one of my favorite blogs, but haven`t found it in any store. And just in case you were planning on telling me to hire a carpenter, already done that too. Their offers are way out of my league.

Guys, tell me is there any chance a not so well experienced DIY`er can pull this through? Is there a not so complicated way to build your own book shelf with an attached ladder? So far I haven`t found any good tutorials, which may be also due to the fact, that I want my shelf up to the ceiling. Meaning it should cover the whole wall from top to bottom.
I would love you guys to share some tips, ideas or even tutorials.
Already thanking you in advance and read you soon my loves.

Kitchen Organising

kitchen organising - handwritten on mason jars for your granola
photo from pinterest
A lot of you may be cleaning your homes or sorting out stuff you don`t need anymore right now, `cause that`s what ya do in spring, right? In my case it`s doing a little kitchen organising. I like to cook and bake with different ingredients, especially spices. And there`s my huge obsession with buying different tea flavours. So I may have gathered a few things in my kitchen cupboard, which is kind of annoying me lately. Then, a few weeks ago, the perfect idea came to my mind, while remembering a cooking show, where they always stored a lot of ingredients in mason jars. Yes, I know this is no new idea, I just never really gave it a thought, but now mason jars are all I need.
Well, I also found them at IKEA in different sizes (1, 2, 3, 4) and some special labeled ones here. Guess I`m off ordering a bunch of this stuff.
Leave you with a few inspirations, that really inspired me for my kitchen.

Pasta Salad "Primavera"

pasta salad "Primavera"

Right now things are starting to grow again, nature gets greener and the first herald of spring are blooming. Time to fresh up your grocery list with a few spring vegetables, like spinach, wild garlic or spring onions, which are one important ingredient of this delicious pasta salad I made a few days ago (recipe found here).

Ingredients (makes one salad bowl)
  • 400g fusilli
  • 1 cucumber
  • 3 spring onions
  • 200g goat cheese (feta cheese)
  • 1 fennel
  • 160g sweet corn
  • 250g plain yogurt
  • 100g salad cream or mayonnaise
  • 180g sour cream
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • a pinch of sugar
  • salt, pepper & dill

Heat water in a pan. Add the fusilli and a bit of salt, as soon as the water boils. Cook the pasta until al dente, pour off the water and let cool down. While the pasta is getting ready you can prepare the vegetables, just don`t forget to stir your pasta from time to time.

Wash, peel, quarter the cucumber, remove the seeds and cut it into little pieces. Heat some water with salt in a pan for the fennel. In the meantime wash and cut fennel in slices. Blanch the fennel slices for 3 minutes in the boiling water, remove and let cool down. Wash the spring onions, cut them in little rings and cube the goat cheese.
Now let`s prepare the dressing for our salad. Mix plain yogurt, salad cream or mayonnaise, sour cream and lemon juice. Make sure to get an even texture. Season with salt & pepper, add a pinch of sugar as well. For the special little something use fresh dill to finish up the dressing.

Mix the pasta, fennel, goat cheese, spring onions, sweet corn and cucumber with the salad dressing and enjoy!

I prepared this salad in the evening to take it at work the next day. During the night the ingredients had time to cool and I already had something for lunch the next day. You should try it!

What about you are you going for spring vegetables too? What is on your menu plan these days?

TV-Shows I Fancy

It has been quiet a while that I shared a post with you about the TV-shows I fancy at the moment. As a matter of fact I am totally obsessed with series, you may even call me a series junky. So it´s kind of obvious that I am always following a few different series at the same time. Got to satisfy your needs right?
Here`s what`s trending my radar right now:

Big Bang Theory

Big Bang Theory best show ever
photo from The Big Bang Theory G+

This is my absolute favorite show ever and I`m never getting tired talking about it, that`s why I already mentioned Big Bang Theory on a previous post. Until now I loved every single season of this show, really anticipated for season8 to start and haven`t missed one episode since then. So far this season is really good, funny as hell, but also has it`s sentimental touch. Some of the characters have to deal with severe stuff, which gives the show a lot more of deepness. Loving it, like I`m still loving Sheldon. Bazinga!

Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars one of the best shows ever

Besides the above mentioned Pretty Little Liars is my second favorite TV-series. I mean come on, who doesn`t like some thrill and goose bumps? The complexity of this show gets bigger and bigger with every season, couldn`t believe it would even get more complicated in season 5. Pretty Little Liars really manages it to keep the story going without never being boring and teaches a lot about friendships. So organize a girl`s night with your best friends, comfort food and watch the show.

Vampire Diaries

Vampire Diaries, vampire love

Still watching it, loving it again!
After quiet a flat fifth season, according to my opinion, I do like the theme of season 6. First I didn´t wanted to continue watching this show, but gave it a shot afterwards. The storyline took me in from the first episode and I got hooked up again with my two favourite vampires Damon and Stephen. Just bad I still can`t decide which one of them is hotter.

Supernatural,love Dean
photo from supernatural wiki
Ok, I admit it right away I might have picked up this show just because of Jensen Ackles, aka Dean Winchester. He`s what I call an eye candy, seriously he`s the hottest TV-show actor ever, ever, ever! I started watching Supernatural a few years ago, but never got past season 6. Now I`m caching up on season 7 & 8 and so far I`m not planning to ditch it again.

The Walking Dead & Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones

The Walking Dead

The second part of season 5 The Walking Dead has started a few weeks ago and soon season 5 of Game of Thrones will be released and I still haven`t caught up on season 4. I guess I have another two series to fill my after work evenings with.

What about you? What shows do you like to watch? I would love for you to share some suggestions with me, as I am always looking for new series.

Purple Rain

purple hair

mauve hair

Yey, I finally did it! Got myself some purple hair. I really wanted to get pastel hair for a such a long time already, didn`t believe I would actually pull it through.
I know, I know it`s not that pastel looking right now, but I do absolutely love it  anyway. And I like the fact that the colour will change and get a little lighter every time I`ll wash my hair. Can`t wait to see it turn from purple to lilac.

What about you, do you like pastel hair?
